Abstract
In this work we investigate the possibility of utilizing electrically small volumetric inclusions, in the form of 3-dimensional Hilbert space-filling curves, to provide designable scattering characteristics comparable with that of plasmonic spheres, in the microwave regime. The 3-dimensional Hilbert space-filling curves offer relatively narrowband resonant structures along with strong dipolar scattering characteristics, at frequencies where the volume which encloses the curve can be considered as electrically small. When utilized as a scatterer, these curves can offer comparable scattering characteristics with that of electrically small dielectric spheres, operating near the resonant frequencies
