  • Abstract
    Atmosphere, ice and water have different permittivity based on which the paper proposes the principle and method of ice layer thickness measurement with the effect of fringe electric field of uniplanar capacitance. The paper designs the processing circuit of sensor and the structure of sensor of ice layer thickness based upon mathematic model analysis on fringe electric field of uniplanar capacitance. The paper analyzes effect of fringe electric field caused by three different mediums including atmosphere, ice and water by experiment, and verifies the feasibility of measuring ice layer thickness with effect of fringe electric field. The sensor has the advantages of non-contact model, high precision and little interference by outside environment.
