Abstract
Localized populations of neurons (neuronal groups) can synchronize their oscillatory activity by the nonlinear interaction of reentrant (reciprocal) signals with the ongoing oscillatory activity within a group. Some of the characteristics of this process are explored using an extended Wilson-Cowan model
