Abstract
In this paper, a new image fusion approach is proposed. Different from previous fusion algorithm, the luminance contrasts in the resulting image can be efficiently controlled by using a linear diffusion operation-based image preprocessing operation. In practice the linear-diffusion method is used to perform the multi-scale contrast decompositions. In order to get a desired luminance contrasts, a iteration procedure is applied to adjust the number of iterations in the diffusion operation such that a best fusion quality can be achieved. The proposed method has been tested on several multifocus images, and results show that the fused images present a more detailed representation of the depicted scene.
