Abstract
Numerous tools are available in the computer industry that assist the developer by generating user interface code. The ease of use, benefits of abstraction, and the ability to generate compiler specific code are among the attractive reasons for using a Graphical User Interface (GUI) builder in a user interface project. Problems arise, however when developers expect and rely too much on these tools. This paper discusses specific benefits and drawbacks experienced while using a GUI builder to develop software on the Automated Validation (AutoVal) Program for the Avionics Logistics Branch of the Air Force Wright Laboratory (WL/AAAF)
