Abstract
Asset tracking is an essential part of many industries, so much so that large investments have been made in the area of wire-free automated identification technology, in particular, radio frequency identification (RFID). The aim of this paper is to discuss furthering such technology, making it intelligent through the use of wireless sensor networks (WSN). A prototype asset tracking system is presented, as well as preliminary results from experimentation related to expanding such a system to provide real-time asset positioning.
