  • Abstract
South-to-North Water Transfer Project is the strategic move to implement the water resource allocation of China. The east line of the project is carrying out which would bring with it a lot of water environmental and ecological problems because of the wide range, long time and complex environment problems facing as well as some uncertainty the environment and ecology themselves have. In this paper, Remote sensing (RS) and Geographic Information System (GIS) are explored in the protection of environment and ecology. Concrete research frame, including objectives, contents and key methods, is brought forward which would be better reference to the ongoing project. In general, "3S" could be used to develop the research of protection and evaluation system in water transfer and imported regions, to build multi-index evaluation models and to promote operational process in the field of eco-environment monitoring and related researches.
