Abstract
This work proposes a software tool for fault diagnosis in power systems. The solution was developed to process the monitoring real-time data in Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) of the transmission and generation network of a Brazilian electric utility in order to assist operators of control centers with useful information about disturbances and the best procedures to reestablish the service. Also, this paper discusses the issues associated to alarm mapping during real time operation. The number of events in a time window and the identification of failed and false alarms are the main concerns of this work. The results demonstrate how robust is the proposed approach considering the management of the existing and new SCADA data. In the end, the fault diagnosis process can estimate the fault section even in case of multiple faults or in case of failure of protection devices.
