Abstract
In this paper, we describe a system for extracting the facial features required to reconstruct a 3D model of a face from a 2D image. The facial image processing library comprises of 32 standard functions and 7 functions for the automatic facial contour extraction function. 32 standard functions can be classified into five groups such as face detection, pupil detection, facial parts detection, facial parts contour extraction and face contour extraction. The system is not only useful for the automatic 3D facial model fitting but also for a widespread facial image processing applications such as personal authentication and facial expression analysis
