Abstract
The 1990s has witnessed the rise to prominence of microwave field solvers in the day-to-day engineering design process. This progress has been possible due to the availability of commercial user friendly tools to engineers, supported by developments in desktop computing power. GMRC has acted as a focus in GEC-Marconi for their evaluation, benchmarking and application. The paper concentrates on `real world´ applications and experiences. Areas as diverse as training, visualisation, CAE model development, product assurance, risk reduction, software prototyping, and EMC are discussed
