TELTEN-TELematics implementation on the Trans-European road network

TELTEN is an ERTICO initiative, supported by the European Commission, that proposes a suitable framework for deploying a traffic management architecture on the Trans-European Road Network (TERN). TELTEN has worked in close co-operation with the MAGIC (traffic management) action group of the EU´s Motorway Working Group. The TERN is the official road network of the European Union with a length of some 69000 kilometres, representing 2% of the total road length in the EU´s 15 Member States. Most of the TERN is or will be interurban or periurban motorway and carries a high proportion of total traffic. Completion of the TERN requires an investment in excess of 120 billion ECU.
