Abstract
This paper presents the concept and design, of a relay base station to extend the coverage of a DECT system. The various issues involved are discussed and a typical rural deployment of the CorDECT network involving relay base stations is arrived at. The results of a simulation study on the traffic handling capacity of this deployment is presented. The simulations indicate that the relay base station can, indeed cater to the necessary traffic density in rural environments
