Abstract
The authors report on an investigation to develop a single-chip microcontroller based compact and versatile controller for inverter applications. A novel iterative generalized algorithm that, with a single program, computes switching angles, in real-time, for four sampling methods is used. Such an algorithm is implemented on an MCS-96 series microcontroller, whose high speed input output (HSIO) unit assures precise triggering of switching devices. The controller developed is robust, generates PWM waveforms of very high quality and is capable of tuning to its application
