Abstract
The authors briefly discuss the concern expressed over the physical workload experienced by overhead linesmen and how the design of connectors can help reduce the physical stress on the linesmen´s bodies. The authors then put forward the case for cartridge lined wedge connectors. They comprise an outer `C´ shaped body into which the main and tap conductors are held in position by an inner wedge. The wedge is driven forward by a cartridge powered installation tool. The operation of such connectors is discussed
