  • Abstract
    A nonlinear active disturbance rejection controller (ADRC) for finishing automatic width control (FAWC) system was proposed to improve the accuracy of strip width. The corresponding ADRC parameters were tuned by using the chaos optimization method. In order to produce the fast transient response of the time-delay system, the proposed ADRC consists of the extended state observer (ESO) and the nonlinear state-error-feedback (NLSEF) with the fst nonlinear function. With minimal the settling time criterion, the optimal parameters of the ESO and NLSEF were selected independently based on the mutative scale chaos optimization method. The simulation results of the FAWC system show that the optimized ADRC ensures good robustness and adaptability under modeling uncertainty and external disturbance. It is concluded that the proposed ADRC produces better dynamic performance than the conventional PID controller, and the chaos optimization algorithm is effective and practical
