Abstract
It is often important to predetermine the dynamic characteristics of a supply-motor-load system in order to reduce the rotor speed variations. The classical method numerically solves the motor dynamic equations, including the supply and the driver, and takes into account different transient states. It generally needs a long calculation time. When the motor speed variations are relatively low, a much faster analytical method, based on a double harmonic decomposition, is introduced instead of the numerical method. The analytical calculation method is first presented with its limits and basic hypothesis. Then, both numerical and analytical methods are used in different applications, as for instance pointing out the skewing effect on a given motor
