Abstract
Increasing of energy cost leads to pay more attention to decrease consumption and optimize power quality in industries such as metal, cement, oil and gas. To do so, the reduction of harmonic effects in different voltage level, including LV, MV and HV could be a reasonable solution. Low voltage capacitor bank behavior varies in harmonic area depend on capacitors´ type, network specification and harmonic sources. So harmonic effects analysis in electrical equipment and distribution network has been increasingly considered in recent years in order to harmonic distortion control and avoid parallel resonance. In this paper, the harmonic effect on a low voltage capacitor bank performance has been analyzed in a practical case study, DELIJAN CEMENT COMPANY and a modified structure has been proposed to improve the performance of capacitor bank and prevent the fuses and cable breakdown.
