Abstract
Proper understanding on key indicators related to Industrialized Building System (IBS) is important in assisting contractors to formulate effective strategic planning for their company. This study presents a list of SWOT (Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) indicators for measuring the most important or the Key Indicator (KI) with reference to Selangor construction industry. Key SWOT indicators are identified through analyzing the data collected from comprehensive structured questionnaire survey in the local industry. The respondents consist of grade G7 IBS contractor in Selangor registered with Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia. Criterion for the identification of the KI is using Relative Importance Value (RIV) formula. In the internal assessment, the findings showed that for the most significant IBS strengths are reduce the waste of construction materials. Next, the highest score for IBS weakness are the installation process of the IBS components requires skilful and experienced operators. For external assessment indicates that the highest rating for IBS opportunity is the factors of to conduct research and development centers for IBS. Lastly the threat factor with the most significant impact is the IBS manufacturer location is far away from the construction site.
