Hungarian-German Joint Research Base (HuGe-RB) on Mechatronics

The European Lisbon-strategy has brought new challenges in Europe. Hungary and Germany agreed therefore to intensify scientific and technological collaboration by integrating German und Hungarian research establishments and companies at Hungarian knowledge centres. Moreover it was decided to install common research bases as a new cooperation instrument. One of these new cooperation instruments is the research base for "mechatronics" in Miskolc and Duisburg-Essen. The aim of the activities of the common research-base "mechatronics" is to network existing as well as future domain-specific development-tools for the development process of new mechatronic products. The tools are to be networked in form of an interdisciplinary and mechatronic development environment. The research-base is primarily realised from the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany and the University of Miskolc in Hungary. The aim is to approve the approach on real examples of mechatronic component development. This approach is accomplished in cooperation with the industry partners who are located in the respective regions of Hungary and Germany. This paper gives an introduction to the goals and the background of the research base as well as an overview over the papers presented in this special session
