  • Abstract
Design and fabrication of a silicon-based micro direct methanol fuel cell (μDMFC) are presented in this paper, and a novel encapsulating method adopting PDMS is also designed, which could easily achieve close contact of the critical cell components. Meanwhile, serpentine flow field is found to have the optimal performance by different flow field structures of μDMFC tests, and the optimized size of anode flow field is obtained. It proves through experiments that the single cell has the best performance when the duty ratio of single serpentine flow field (SSFF) is 47%. The peak power density of single cell reaches 13.2 mW/cm2.
