Abstract
Many flux oriented control schemes for induction motors include one or more so called coordinates transformations. The purpose of such a transformation is to translate signals from the controller (usually operating in a flux oriented reference frame or coordinate system) into real time real world quantities or vice versa. This transformation can be seen as a modulation (or demodulation) and therefore, although being essential, it does not (or should not) affect the performance of the control scheme. In order to investigate and develop sophisticated control schemes it is convenient to have a universal hardware coordinate transformer. The authors briefly discuss the principles of flux oriented control and then discuss the design of a modular transformer
