Abstract
At a outset, active and smart packaging and their role in supply chain is studied, then by means of special function of drug products decay for completing the model in order to investigate the role of active and smart packaging in decay rate and service level of medicinal products, a coefficient is added to the model as smart packaging factor and then evaluating it. After that, an inventory model for medicinal products with drug decay function is presented in order to obtain the least cost considering shortage of backlogging. Demand rate depending on inventory level is modeled in three levels. Finally, to specify the role of packaging, optimum of drug supply chain model costs is studied.
