Abstract
The authors discuss the visions of the Helsinki Energy Board concerning the way the meters and metering systems ought to be improved. Further they look at the observations made when testing new technologies: experiences of hand-held terminals, experiences of the remote reading of meters by using the public telephone network and data over voice technology
