Abstract
A novel design of capacitivly-fed shorted patch antenna for broadband operation is presented. A feeding strip is fed by a coaxial probe and used to excite the radiating patch by electromagnetic coupling. Experimental results show that the impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is mainly determined by the length and location of the feeding strip, and the width of the radiating patch. A wide impedance bandwidth of 72% is obtained for the proposed antenna. Details of the experimental results are presented and discussed.
