Abstract
The authors have developed a new broadband telecommunication power supply system which is configured in three cabinets as compared with a conventional six-cabinets system. To minimize the size of the system and reduce power losses, forced-air cooling and zero-voltage switching power conversion circuits have been applied to rectifier units and voltage compensation units. Additionally, to reduce the input harmonic current, the rectifier unit has a power-factor-correction circuit. Installation of the new power supply system makes it possible to establish adjacent power equipment cabinets at telecommunications equipment cabinets, and to use slimmer diameter cables between the power and the telecommunications equipment
