Abstract
In this paper, a novel predistorter is proposed and the design result of a linearized CMOS power amplifier is presented. A predistorter is incorporated with a 5.8 GHz power amplifier using a 0.18-mum 1P6M mixed-mode CMOS process. The characteristics of the predistorter are analyzed and the effects of the incorporation of the predistorter with the power amplifier are described. The predistorter compensated the AM-AM and AM-PM distortion of the power amplifier and indicated a 22.6 dB improvement in the third-order inter-modulation distortion.
