Abstract
Multi-wavelength optical pulses are of great importance in high speed WDM-TDM communications. In this work, we present a fiber-optic approach to realize a multi-wavelength pulse train by self-seeding of a gain-switched Fabry-Perot laser diode. In the feedback cavity, a semiconductor optical amplifier nonlinear loop mirror was adopted for clock division and for reconfiguring the multi-wavelength source using an optical control signal. A 1.8 GHz output was obtained and the optical pulses were switched between two different wavelengths according to the frequency of the control pulses
