Abstract
Starting from a theoretical approach, we present a detailed experimental characterization of interferometric noise, including different types of standard wavelength routing architectures suffering this phenomenon. We show that multi-path interference (MPI) causes alteration in the power spectral shape at the receiving site and ultimately introduces transmission power penalties. From a system standpoint, this means requiring a minimum crosstalk value in order to avoid impairments on the transmitted signal, due to interferometric noise
