Abstract
The main idea of this paper is a steady of power exchange in a Doubly Fed Induction Machine (DFIM), operating in motor mode, and supplied with two PWM inverters in both sides. An active power distribution law between the stator and rotor is developed and the adequate rotor and stator inverters ratings are studied. This active power distribution law imposes a connection between rotor and stator frequencies that allows a two inverters dimension to a half of DFIM power for high power applications. A new four quadrant drive operation is considered and a comparison with the squirrel cage induction motor (SCIM) drive, operating under the same output power conditions, is made. Simulation results, obtained with Matlab-Simulink software, illustrate the static and dynamic performance of this DFIM system with the power distribution law.
