  • Abstract
Considers the need of industry to improve the efficiency of production, resulting in the adoption of `state of the art´ techniques for scheduling materials and resources. The author looks at the need to provide better availability of some of the most critical resources-the assets used to manufacture the products. The tasks required to support these assets are examined, together with the information structure necessary to back up these tasks. Finally, the need for an integrated information structure linking maintenance production and corporate management is proposed and current steps being taken to achieve this objective are described
