  • Abstract
    Wideband radio propagation, in general, is different from narrowband radio propagation in terms of both the long-term fading characteristics and the short-term fading characteristics. The CDMA (code division multiple access) scheme has been developed for the cellular system, and it usually uses a wideband radio channel. Therefore, it is important to know its impact on cellular systems. It is shown that the difference in path loss between narrowband and wideband is generally very small. However, the wideband signal takes advantage of similar kinds of frequency diversity schemes which provide a signal which fades less in presence of man-made interference. Less fading is observed in urban areas than in suburban areas
