Abstract
In this paper, temporal fading characteristics at 900 MHz and 2400 MHz for a traffic monitoring system are presented. Due to the low receiving antenna heights, deep fades caused by heavy truck traffic can be observed. By determination of the level crossing rate, it was found that the impact of traffic on temporal fading diminishes when the receiving antenna is placed higher. Ricean K-factors were found to be lognormally distributed with median 13 dB and standard deviation 6 dB.
