Planning of the Gulf States interconnection

The authors deal with the planning studies that were carried out to determine the feasibility and nature of an interconnection of the Gulf States. The interconnection project is foreseen to be developed in three phases. The authors give a description of the member systems including generating capacity and transmission facilities. The integration of these facilities is discussed in terms of four different schemes which were assessed technically and economically.
