Abstract
Pattern analysis by simplicial complexes is a powerful tool that has been recently applied to image and signal analysis. In this paper simplicial complexes are applied to the analysis of a signal based on a finite set of symbols such as a musical piece. It will be shown how to characterize a musical melody by simplexes by focussing on the hidden symmetries. In this way it is possible to single out hidden symmetries and complexity.
