Abstract
This paper introduces several criteria to consider when choosing a fuse for safety purposes, including phase angle and input impedance. Experiments show that the exact same fuse may display different damage patterns, or lack thereof, when subjected to different phase angles and input impedances at the same voltage level. Therefore, it is of general interest to have fuse selection criteria and test methodologies that prevent fuse failures.
