Abstract
The analytical continuation from the real to the complex space is a mathematical tool which appears to be very interesting applied to EM problems. We look at the main restrictions associated to some common solutions and analyze certain rules which should be taken into account in order to apply these methods. Through some examples, we illustrate how new field solutions or alternative formulations may be obtained.
