Abstract
The author discusses how personal computers are utilized in electric power systems analysis. Concerns pertinent to simulating transmissions, distributed and industrial power systems are discussed. The author focuses on analysis features modern PC software offers, and on pertinent user interface aspects and graphics. The analysis features discussed are: power flow, short-circuit, transient stability harmonic analysis, substation grounding, protection coordination and cable thermal analysis. The user interface aspects cover the graphics and database management
