Abstract
Many businesses have come to recognise that in order to survive they need to make significant changes to the way they manage and indeed to question many of the traditional views, beliefs and accepted business practices. However, in most companies there is shortage of people with experience of addressing these issues. This paper attempts to highlight through experience, the problems that may be encountered and offers some possible guidelines for others to follow. Firstly the recent company history of NEI Mining Equipment Ltd. is described, followed by an explanation of the rationale behind the decision taken on how to address the problem. The approach adopted is then described with finally a critical appraisal of the experience and the lessons learned
