Abstract
This paper presents a low-cost and low-power solution for data transmission via metallic solids. It uses ultrasonic waves in metal pipes to carry the information, since wireline or radio transmission is not possible in certain cases. The sender nodes are designed in a low power style in order to be supplied by batteries. Additionally, the nodes are using off-the-shelf technology and are highly integrated to reduce costs dramatically, compared to similar existing technologies.
