Abstract
The paper presents the characteristics of the helical antenna in the normal mode, some new extrapolated design data and a specific case involving antenna construction. In the present work we refer to the theory of wave propagation along a cylindrical helix, comparing theoretical results to experimental data, and we show new results for different frequencies, diameters and dielectrics. Attention is given to the existence of an effective permittivity.
