Abstract
A prototype intelligent computer-assisted learning (ICAL) system has been developed, using the object-oriented language Smalltalk/V, to aid in teaching language to children with learning disabilities. The final system will provide a teaching tool which allows each child to work within an environment specially tailored to their own strengths and weaknesses, thus enabling them to learn at their own pace
