  • Abstract
Examines the problems involved in the formal approval of a flight inspection organisation. The documentation for this process is not yet complete and much is still in draft form. When finally issued it will form part of the Air Traffic Services Engineering Manual CAP 581. Engineering Regulation is a section of the Air Traffic Services (ATS) Standards department of the Civil Aviation Authority Safety Regulation Group. The section is responsible for giving approvals under the Air Navigation Order. Article 79 (2) requires that a navigational aid is `flight checked by the Authority or by a person approved by the Authority for that purpose on such occasions as the Authority may require´. The paper mainly makes reference to approving organisations for ILS flight inspection. It is intended in the future to produce approval documents to cover all navaid flight inspections
