Abstract
The terms uninterrupted communication and communication technologies remind us about the satellite network technologies. By focusing on the satellite technology-based fields and corresponding sub-fields in terms of public benefit, a country´s strategy, current laws, policies, economics, knowledge, and technology transfers are in the main scope of current applications of satellite technologies. One of the major fields in which satellite communication technologies are employed is the search and rescue operations. The current technologies are mainly based on the COSPAS/SARSAT systems. There is a tendency to the MEOSAR systems currently. In this study, the technical properties, advantages, cost, projections and efficiency of the MEOSAR systems are discussed by the comparison with the current systems.
