Abstract
Investigations related to a method for evaluating magnetic coils are reported. It is shown that by detecting the total primary current when short circuits are formed in magnetic coils, failures can be detected. By this method failures are detected under the same conditions as real conditions in service. The thermal stability of magnetic coils correlates with the thermal stability of magnetic wires. However, it is difficult to find the thermal stability of enameled wires. It is noted that it is also difficult to find the thermal stability of magnetic coils from the thermal stability of the enamel coating
