Abstract
Power delivery apparatus in substations tends to operate under circumstances which do not allow long-term shutdown for overhaul inspection and maintenance. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor and diagnose the condition of substation equipment in operation so that signs of abnormalities or end-of-life can be detected. Hitachi Ltd. has been developing and improving sensing and diagnostic technologies including expert systems for diagnosing various abnormal conditions and predicting end-of-life with high accuracy. Based upon these technologies, high-precision on-line operation/maintenance systems for practical use incorporating various types of high-precision diagnostic devices and expert systems are being produced. These systems are being designed and manufactured for application in newly constructed substations
