Abstract
The authors present the analysis of a current-mode parallel resonant power converter, and discuss the characteristics of an experimental realization of the converter and the structure of the resonant inductor. Of the several operation modes of the converter, the one most suitable for information processing equipment was identified in terms of the recovery time of the MOSFET´s parasitic diode at high frequency. Normalized circuit characteristics were determined. A 5 V, 150 A converter was developed to verify the analysis, and potential problems in the design were identified, of which the loss in the resonant inductor was found to be the most critical
