Abstract
An algorithm is presented which calculates optimized valve settings in order to reduce leakages in a water supply network. Based on state estimation for online monitoring of water networks, the formulation of the optimization problem leads to a linear programming problem. To solve this problem, the sparse revised simplex method is employed, which is shown to be effective in speeding up solution time and enhancing stability
