Abstract
The market for Mixed Analog and Digital ASICs is of major importance to Plessey Semiconductors. A high level of design expertise has been built up to support this business sector. Traditionally Mixed Signal design has been carried out on a `Turnkey´ basis. This is due to the difficulty of designing analog circuits at component level. Funding this requires that a relatively high development charge is made and, for some companies, high volume production demands. Thus position has been changed by the introduction of the Plessey PDM, which is an advanced benchtop prototype Modelling System for Mixed Signal ASICs. It exploits macro based design for both analog and digital to offer a design capability to a wider user base
