Abstract
We suggest a new theoretical scheme for a fiber amplifier with a laser cooled cladding, which can offset the heat generated during the amplification process by Stokes shifted stimulated emission in the fiber core. In our scheme the amplification process takes place in uniformly Yb3+-doped core of ZBLAN fiber. The core mode of the fiber supports an amplified signal propagating at the wavelength lambdas=1 mum and pump signal propagating at the wavelength lambdap= 0.98 mum.
