  • Abstract
A GaAs digital-to-analog converter with 14-bit resolution and >1 Gs/s sampling rate is described. The device is intended for use in direct digital synthesizer applications and exhibits a typical untrimmed DC differential nonlinearity of 0.1% FS, corresponding to a -60 dBc spurious-free dynamic range when used to generate a 12-bit resolution sinewave at a sampling rate of 750 Ms/s. The maximum sampling rate in 2 Gs/s. The circuit utilizes on-chip current sources, dissipates 2.5 watts, and is packaged in a custom multilayer ceramic package.<>
